Blogging Hiatus

The excuse - missing camera cord = no pictures.  So here is the last month in a nutshell.  Or what I can remember of it and a few disjointed thoughts.

New Years @ Marilyn's.
Fun fun.  Really I mostly remember being SO tired. so so tired and just wanting sleep.  Zina and Kate on the other hand.  Were bounding with energy. Literally

And that was January in a nutshell. :) Bike riding, hot air balloon festival, playing kitchen commando style, basketball, sunshine etc.  January was Mark's ER rotation month.  He pretty much loved it.  February is OB/GYN.  We pretty much both hate it.  He left this morning before we woke up and it is now 10pm and he is still not home.  Darn those babies.  Suffice it to say - he will not be an OB/GYN Dr. :)

Next up.  These two. Make me happy.
After Christmas our little Joy school group dissolved.  I am pretty ok with that.  I have been thinking a lot about Zina starting kindergarten.  Sad day for me.  I love having her home.  Wilson loves having her home.  They are the best of friends.  I am happy to just enjoy our mornings sleeping in, cuddling, yummy breakfasts, make believe in our underwear whenever we want.  We definitely have the occasional clash of wills, but I am so happy when these two are home and giggling together.  I am so glad that I opted not to do preschool with Zina.  I realize that is not the answer for every family or every child. But it has definitely been the right answer for us at this time.  Zina loves to learn.  She is able to read the simple books that we get out of the library and soaks up new information.  We have been focusing on the articles of faith in primary and family home evening and she has the first 4 almost 5 articles of faith memorized.  Wilson has the first 3 almost 4 memorized.
Today Zina told me in a hushed voice,
"Mom, I kissed Edison in primary"
Me: "Oh ya?? Why did you do that?"
Zina: "Because I think I'm in love with him.  But I just can't decide between him and Carter"
Wait what?
It was all I could do to not sit down and have a serious talk about kissing boys with her.
Insert hyperventilating here.
And remind me that she's only 5.
I think Kindergarten might kill me.
I know. it's not about me. And I'm sure she will love it.
but...
home school anyone?

Decorating Valentines Cookies.  We had to make them early so we could send them off to our Valentines.
My Valentines this year.  My sweet boys.  That picture of Sam smiling all wrapped up is so signiture.  Seriously. I wrap him up to sleep and he happily grins and then lays his little head on my shoulder and hums with me until he falls asleep.  He really is just the sweetest happiest boy.  I am so glad to be his favorite person.  He turned 10mths yesterday.  10mths.  Where does the time go?  He is still little weighing in at 16lbs and 11ounces.  He is so very close to walking and has actually taken 1 step by himself.  He signs milk and waves bye bye. Says Mama, and dada. Is slowly starting to like food more but still signs "milk" a million times a day. :)
I love me some Sam the Blam.

And Wilson. :) Wils the tils the killy ils.
That is what he goes around saying all day.
"Hey Pop the Hop"
"Hey Mom the Com the Bom the Hom"
"Hey Bud the Hud" (that's Sam")
With Wilson I can either laugh or cry.
And it's so much more fun when we laugh together.
Getting Wilson to do something in a timely manner is like finding a needle in a haystack.
It just doesn't happen.  He will rhyme and sing and dance and pose and play and do anything and everything except what he is supposed to be doing.
Like putting his socks on.
Putting his underwear on.
eating his dinner.
etc.
etc.
etc.
But, when he does get it done and we high five and I say, "Thanks Wils for doing that!"
His big grin, and sweet blue eyes.
make it so worth the wait.
Wilson brings SO much laughter into our home.

I'm assuming when you said, "playing kitchen commando style" you were talking about your kids and not yourself. :) I'm jealous that Sam is such a good snuggler. Neither of my kids have been so far... sigh.

Ah. I love your kids, Becca. And I wish we were neighbors. I didn't realize that Sam and Violet were exactly 1 month apart. :) Sorry I was preoccupied at the time. :)

Also, the behavior that Wilson exhibits is what I lovingly like to term "Second Child Syndrome." Lilie does EXACTLY the same thing. :) Why do anything if you know that if you wait long enough, someone else will do it for you? ie: older sister or mom. Yeah. It's been a struggle but she's slowly coming around. :)

Anyway, Bec. Thanks for the update. I always love to hear how your family is doing. Good luck to Mark! -- and you!

Nice little catch up. Wilson sounds so much like Bryce. You tell him to do something and he just goes and does his own thing. In his own little world. Must be the age? Although I don't ever remember Jaycie being like this? Good way to put it, keeping it positive, "its always worth the wait" I will have to remember that. Is Wilson saying all those weird sayings because he likes to rhyme? Bryce loves to rhyme and is constantly trying to say ryhming words. I think he feels so smart when he does.
I can't believe that Zina is already so boy crazy. Some of the girls in Jaycie's kindergarten class are too, but thankfully Jaycie isn't too much. She comes home and tells me stories of how so and so is in love, or so and so are boyfriend/girlfriend. I too can't believe it. But Jaycie seems to be not interested at this point thank goodness. Have a great week.

Laughed and cried looking at your blog ... (midterm week helps with the latter..)

So funny about Zina being "in love" with two boys in Primary. The next 15 years are going to be an adventure!
